ASTM A182 threaded flange is a flange manufactured according to A182 standard, and its connection method is threaded connection. It is a commonly used connector in pipeline systems, used to connect pipelines, valves, pumps and other equipment, so that fluids can be smoothly transmitted within the system.
ASTM A182 is the standard for forged or rolled alloy steel and stainless steel pipe fittings, flanges, valves, accessories for use in high temperature environments. This standard covers a variety of material grades, such as F304, F316, F321, F11, F22, etc. The specific material selection depends on the application environment.

The flanges covered by ASTM A182 are typically produced by forging or rolling methods. These processes optimize the material’s mechanical properties for the intended service conditions.
Pressure and Temperature Ratings:
ASTM A182 Stainless Steel Flanges are designed to meet specific and temperature requirements. The standard provides various classes (Class 150, Class 300, Class 600, etc.) to indicate the pressure-temperature rating of the flanges.
Testing and Quality Control:
The specification outlines the testing procedures and quality control measures to ensure that the flanges meet the required standards. To achieve this, it includes common tests such as chemical composition analysis, mechanical testing, and non-destructive testing methods.

Sealing Surface Types of ASTM A182 Threaded Flange
The sealing surface types of ASTM A182 threaded flanges include raised face (RF),Flat Face Full Face (FF), Male Face and Female Face (MFM), tongue-and-groove face (TG), and ring joint face (RJ).
The most commonly used sealing surface of ASTM A182 threaded flanges is the raised face. Specifically, the raised face sealing surface features a raised annular table on the flange’s sealing surface. As a result, this structure increases the reliability of the seal to a certain extent.
Comparison with Other Flange Types
Flange Type | Connection Method | Pressure Suitability | Welding Required | Typical Applications |
Threaded Flange | Screwed connection | Low pressure (150#, 300#) | ❌ No welding | Small pipes, hazardous areas |
Slip-On Flange | Fillet welded | Low to medium pressure | ✅ Yes | Water and wastewater systems |
Weld Neck Flange | Butt-welded | High pressure | ✅ Yes | High-temperature, high-pressure applications |
Blind Flange | No bore (sealing flange) | High pressure | ❌ No welding | Pipe end closures |
Socket Weld Flange | Socket welded | Medium to high pressure | ✅ Yes | Small-diameter, high-pressure pipes |
