What Is a Slip On Flange?

Slip on flange (referred to as SO Flange) is commonly used in industrial piping system connection components, its essential features for the flange bore diameter is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pipeline, the pipe inserted into the flange through the fillet weld.The pipe is inserted into the flange and connected to the flange by fillet welding. The core advantage of this design is that it allows a certain degree of axial sliding and self-alignment between the pipe and the flange during installation, which reduces the difficulty of alignment, and at the same time creates a hermetically sealed connection through welding.

Outer Diameter

The outer diameter of a flat welding flange is the outermost diameter dimension of the flange. Accurate OD dimensions ensure that the flange can be properly aligned and fit with adjacent components (e.g., another flange, pipe fittings, etc.) when installed in the pipeline.

Inner Diameter

The inner diameter of the flange is the diameter of the hole in the center of the flange, which should be matched with the outer diameter of the connected pipe to ensure that the pipe can be inserted into the inner hole of the flange smoothly, and to ensure the smooth flow of medium in the pipeline.

Thickness
