ASTM A182 F316/316L Socket Weld Flange, designed in accordance with ASME B16.5 standards, is a high-integrity flange used for creating a secure pipe connection in high-pressure systems. This flange features a recessed area that receives the pipe end; welders then weld around the outer diameter to form a strong, leak-proof joint. Engineers widely use this type of flange in the oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation industries.

Introduction to ASTM A182 F316 Socket Weld Flanges:
ASTM A182: This specification covers forged low alloy and stainless steel piping components for use in pressure systems. Included are flanges, fittings, valves, and similar parts to specified dimensions or to dimensional standards, such as the ASME specifications that are referenced in Section 2.
316 Stainless Steel (F316): An austenitic stainless steel with a higher nickel and molybdenum content than standard 304 stainless steel. This addition of molybdenum significantly enhances its corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments (reducing pitting and crevice corrosion). It also offers good strength at elevated temperatures.
316L Stainless Steel (F316L): The “L” stands for “Low Carbon.” 316L is a low-carbon version of 316. The lower carbon content (max 0.03%) is crucial for improved weldability as it minimizes carbide precipitation during welding.
Socket weld flange: It is a type of flange designed to receive the end of a pipe into a recessed area (socket) of the flange hub. Fabricators weld the pipe both at the pipe end and around the outside for a secure connection.
